Slovenian violinist Lana Trotovsek is emerging as one of the most talented violinists of her generation. She performs throughout Europe with orchestras and as a recital soloist to critical and public acclaim. She has been invited to perform many times at international festivals such as Th
e Santander International Festival in Spain, Emilia Romagna Festival in Italy, Novi Sad Festival in Serbia, The Festival Ljubljana, and The International Music Festival in Bled, Slovenia.
As a concerto soloist she has toured throughout Italy, Slovenia, Serbia, Spain, the Czech Republic and the UK with orchestras such as the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by George Pehlivanian, the Radio Television Serbia Symphony Orchestra, the Radio Symphony Orchestra Pilsen, Hungarian Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, the Four Seasons Chamber Orchestra from Moscow, the Vox Aurae Orchestra from Brescia, Italy, the Canterbury Symphony Orchestra in England, the Metropolitan Symphonia Orchestra, London, the Buckingham Chamber Orchestra and Milano Classica Chamber Orchestra .
She has played solo concerts in the Vienna Konzerthaus, The Teatro la Fenice in Venice, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Kolarac Hall in Belgrade and St. John's Smith Square, London. Lana has premiered works for violin and orchestra specially written for her. She is frequently heard on Radio Slovenija with orchestra and as a recitalist, and has performed on the Radio Television of Serbia and Radio Pula in Croatia; her performance of Khachaturian Violin Concerto was broadcasted on BBC 3 this year.
Lana was born in 1983 to a family of gifted musicians in Ljubljana, Slovenia. She started to play the violin when she was five and went on to study at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana with Primoz Novsak and Volodja Balzalorsky. She was quickly noticed for her talent and was chosen to perform as a soloist in Ljubljana with the Gaudeamus Chamber Orchestra, the School of Performing Arts Orchestra, and the String chamber orchestra "Pro Musica". During this time she was top winner of the XII° Concorso Europeo "A. e V. Marcosig" in Gorizia, Italy, and a prize winner in the Temsig Competition of Slovenian Musicians. She was then discovered by Ruggiero Ricci, who invited her to study with him at the Mozarteum Salzburg. Lana has enjoyed masterclasses with Ruggiero Ricci, Ivry Gitlis, Pierre Amoyal, Giorgy Pauk, Tasmin Little, Edith Peinemann, Pavel Berman, Lev Guelbard, Martin Lovett, Rudolf Gahler, Igor Ozim, Vasko Vassilev and Boris Brovtsyn. She currently studies with Rivka Golani at Trinity College of Music where she was awarded Friends in New York TCM prize and won the Soloist Competition 2009. She won 1st Prize of "Francesco Forgione" International Music Competition for Soloists 2008 in Italy and was awarded prize for the absolute winner of the competition as achieving all the 100 points. She is also a first prize winner of Beethoven Piano Society of Eourope Chamber Music Competition 2009.
Lana is a member of the Greenwich Trio described by legendary Bernard Greenhouse as the new "Beaux Arts Trio". The trio was formed in August 2006, and since its very beginning has gained appraisal for their numerous performances throughout the UK, and in Italy, Austria, Germany, U.S.A., Croatia, Slovenia. They won the Cavatina Chamber Music Competition 2006 in London, the International Chamber Music competition 2007 in Candelo, Italy and "Carlo Mosso" International Chamber Music Competition 2008.. As a result of this they were invited to record a CD for Sheva Records in Italy. Future performances include Beethoven's Triple Concerto with the Beethoven London Orchestra in St. John Smiths Square.
Lana was the recipient of the Preseren Award of University. Preseren awards of the Preseren Fund are the highest
recognitions for achievements in the field
of art in the Republic of Slovenia.
